Welcome to the athletic base—your guide to holistic fitness, functional strength, and sustainable health
About The Athletic Base
At The Athletic Base, we believe true fitness isn’t about chasing aesthetics — it’s about building strength, freedom, and resilience that last a lifetime. Our mission is simple: to help you move better, feel better, and stay active in the ways you love the most.
We focus on functional, holistic training that goes beyond the gym. Whether it’s mobility drills to free up tight hips, kettlebells and calisthenics for all-around strength, or posture and breath work to keep your body aligned, — every practice is rooted in principles that stand the test of time.
This is for people who want more than quick fixes. It’s for the surfer who wants her lower back to stop holding her back, or the climber who is curious about how climbing affects his body. It’s for anyone wants to understand not just what to do, but why it works — so you can carry that wisdom into every activity and every decade of life.
At The Athletic Base, we’re building a foundation for long-lasting athleticism: a body and mindset that are strong, adaptable, and capable of supporting the life you actually want to live.
About Me
I’m Garrett Tringale, founder of The Athletic Base. I’m a Brazilian Jiujitsu coach with over 17 years of experience and a lifelong obsession with functional strength, mobility, and movement philosophy. While most of the fitness world chases aesthetics, I’ve always asked a different question: how does this benefit my body and mind?
That question has driven me to explore everything from kettlebells to sprinting, posture correction to injury-proof training. My focus is on building strength and resilience from the inside out — creating a body and mind that can perform, adapt, and thrive for decades.
Through The Athletic Base, I share everything I’ve learned: benefits-based training, movement wisdom, and practical methods anyone can apply. If you’re looking for more than quick fixes or trendy workouts — if you want to understand the “why” behind the way you move — you’re in the right place.
