About Me

I’m Garrett Tringale, founder of The Athletic Base and head coach and founder of Brooklyn Heights Jiu Jitsu. I’m a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach with over 17 years of experience and a lifelong obsession with functional strength, mobility, and movement philosophy.

While most of the fitness world chases aesthetics, I’ve always asked a different question: how does this benefit my body and mind?

That question has guided both my training and my coaching. Every day on the mats, I see what holds up under pressure — and what falls apart. Strength that looks good isn’t always strength that performs. Mobility that’s trendy isn’t always mobility that transfers. My approach has always been rooted in durability, efficiency, and long-term development.

Over the years, I’ve explored everything from kettlebells to sprinting, posture correction to injury-proof training. My focus is on building strength and resilience from the inside out — creating a body and mind that can perform, adapt, and thrive for decades.
